They help prevent any of the moving parts from shuddering or scratching themselves.
608rs Special type of BearingThere are various types of bearings that are used in different parts of the skateboard. It is named for its size. It has an 8 millimeter diameter (the distance across the center of the circle) and a width of 22 millimeters (how thick it is). The "rs" in the name means "rubber seals. " These rubber seals are extremely important because they ensure the lubrication of the bearing, allowing the bearing to spin freely, while keeping debris and dust away from the bearing, which can be detrimental to the bearing's functioning.
When you purchase a set of bearings, typically you are paying for eight bearings in one bag. Which is enough to cover four wheels, because each wheel has two bearings. Alternatively, if you just need to replace one bearing because it is broken or damaged, you can also purchase them individually.
The first step is to remove the axle from the wheel in order to install the bearing. The part can be removed in a way that requires the removal of a bearing press. If you don’t have a bearing press, you can carefully use a screwdriver or other tool to pop out the old bearing. After removing the old bearing, you can then press on the new bearing. You should be cautious and ensure the new bearing is properly installed for it to function well.
A bearing sleeve essentially consists of little balls that are free to roll around a circular track. When you attach the bearing to a wheel and then spin it, those balls roll around the track. This rolling motion will help reduce friction, the force that can slow things down. Less friction means the wheel spins freely and smoothly for an overall better ride feel.
